Course Code: SIT 50313 Course Overview Take the next step in your Hospitality career and make a move towards management with the Diploma of Hospitality. Delivered in conjunction with key industry partners in Bendigo and Echuca, the Diploma of Hospitality will hone skills and knowledge gained from the Certificate IV in Hospitality and prepares you for progression within the industry Students will commence their training at Bendigo TAFE with full use of the training restaurant and computer lab facilities. Following the initial commencement of the program, students will be rostered on to work and train at various key industry partners. Campus Bendigo City Campus / Echuca Campus Course Structure The Diploma of Hospitality (Hotel Operations) is delivered over 2 semesters, the first of which will see you enrolled and completing the Certificate IV in Hospitality (Hotel Operations) before progressing into the Diploma of Hospitality (Hotel Operations) in your second semester with us. Classes will typically be held between 7:00am – 11:00pm, Monday to Friday. Accreditation This qualification is nationally recognised Possible careers • Banquet or function manager • Chef de cuisine • Chef patissier • Executive housekeeper • Front office manager • Gaming manager • Kitchen manager • Motel manager • Restaurant manager • Sous chef • Unit manager (catering operations) Prerequisites You need to have satisfactory literacy and numeracy skills to undertake this course and be at least 15 years of age. All applicants will also be required to attend an interview and fill out a pre-selection form. How to apply Application to Bendigo TAFE Selection process You will need to undertake a Language, literacy and numeracy assessment. Recognition of prior learning (RPL) Recognition of prior learning (RPL) may be given for skills and knowledge gained through previous study or other relevant experience. For further information refer to RPL. Assessment Methods You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.
