Course Overview
Put your love of people and places to work with a qualification in Guiding, and embark on a career that will take you places!

Gain the well rounded guiding skills combined with substantial depth of subject matter knowledge to deliver tours that your clients will remember. This qualification could see you working in diverse roles all across the world and travelling with tour companies as a resident guide!

You will be able to work with independence and under limited supervision using your discretion and judgement to make the best decisions for your tour group. You will have the opportunity to work across a multitude of sectors and locations that could include cultural and heritage sites, attractions, tourist precincts, marine and national parks, wineries as well as on board cruise vessels.

Course Structure
The course is delivered over 6 months, with classes held on 3 days a week.
Classes will typically be held between 9:30am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Prerequisites 
You need to have satisfactory literacy and numeracy skills to undertake this course and be at least 15 years of age. All applicants will also be required to attend an interview and fill out a pre-selection form.
It is recommended that people entering this qualification are able to demonstrate the effective interpersonal communication skills required to succeed as a guide.

Selection process
You will need to undertake a Language, literacy and numeracy assessment. 

Recognition of prior learning (RPL)
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) may be given for skills and knowledge gained through previous study or other relevant experience.  Further information refer to RPL

Assessment Methods
You will be assessed to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge required by the course. Assessment may include written, oral or practical assessment methods. You will know in advance about the type of assessment and how it will operate. There is the opportunity for reassessment and appeal and you will be given this information.
